As a pharmacist and optometrist, David has a particular interest in eye health and the use of the most up-to-date equipment to detect and monitor eye conditions.

He believes that optometrists have a duty of care to carry out whatever tests are deemed necessary to determine the patients’ needs for optimal vision and ocular health. Tests such as Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) can also be very useful in detecting and monitoring systemic diseases eg Diabetes, Hypertension, Hypercholesterolaemia etc.

He recognises that continuing education and training are essential for optical professionals and has attended courses in Ireland, UK and Germany. He has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Sportvision and, most recently, Post Graduate qualifications in Primary Care Ophthalmology from The University of Edinburgh.
